About The Event
God’s Rhythm God hardwired us with a rhythm, a flow, an ordered movement for each of us in our life with Him and our life with one another. But how do we find this kind of life? Is it even possible with all the demands, commitments, and responsibilities we have? Then add to that the additional expectations we place on ourselves based on what we’ve come to believe God wants from us. For many of us, it seems the harder we try the further away we get from the place we long to be. The answer is found in the following words of Jesus: “One of the teachers of religious law asked Jesus, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31 During this class we will take a close look at these instructions, both from the perspective of the original audience, and how we apply them today. “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Are you carrying heavy loads, feeling tense and anxious, not sure what the next right step is? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30, The Message)
